SYNOPSIS

The story of one of the most pivotal moments in civil rights history, the first Sit-In Movement at Woolworth’s lunch counter in Greensboro, North Carolina.

On February 1st, 1960, David Richmond, Franklin McCain, Ezell Blair Jr., and Joseph McNeil, young students of the local HBCU NC A&T State University, took seats at the lunch counter in downtown Woolworth in Greensboro, NC. After Woolworth staff refused them service, these ambitious and strategic young activists, now known as the Greensboro 4, rallied support from students, faculty, family, friends, and the local and national civil rights community to initiate the first ever sit-in movement.

PRODUCTION TEAM

We have been intentional in our efforts to build the right team to tell this important story and to amplify this vision for 5 years. The story has personal significance to members of the team, as most of us are graduates of NC A&T State University and from the surrounding community of Greensboro, NC. As one of the top Historically Black Colleges (HBCU) in the country, we have personally experienced the tone of excellence that NC A&T instills in its students. The University has a legacy of providing the tools for success just as they did with the Greensboro 4. The time is right to tell this story. The climate around the country calls for stories that signify strength, fortitude and resilience.

Greg Williams

Creator, Executive Producer

Greg R. Williams, professionally known as GVisuals, is a dynamic force in the realm of visual storytelling, renowned for his groundbreaking work as the founder of GrandVisuals Productions LLC. With a career marked by innovation and influence. Greg has left an indelible mark on the industry. From his humble beginnings as a videographer for the 1996 Olympics, Greg's journey has been characterized by relentless creativity and a pioneering spirit. He played a pivotal role as Tyler Perry's BTS guy during Perry's ascent to greatness, contributing to the digital filmmaking revolution that reshaped the entertainment landscape.

In addition to his directorial achievements, Greg has expanded his portfolio as a creative director for brands like Gamma and Ican, curating shows for esteemed events such as New York Fashion Week and Atlanta Fashion Week. His creative vision also played a pivotal role in crafting the visual content for the New Edition National tour in 2023, featuring icons like Keith Sweat and Teddy Riley with Guy, as well as concert visuals for Monica.

At the heart of Greg's creative journey lies his collaboration with multi-platinum artist T-Pain and Nappy Boy Entertainment, where he serves as lead creative and director. Together, they have sculpted unforgettable visual experiences that have added to T-Pain's mastery and iconic status, as one of the musical genius’s of our generation.

Greg's impact on the industry was formally recognized when Fulton County and the city of Atlanta honored him with a proclamation in November of 2023, celebrating his pivotal contributions to Atlanta's rise in the music and entertainment scene. With a client roster boasting industry giants like Apple Music, Beats, Gamma, Nappy Boy, WeTV, and SoSo Def, Greg continues to shape the visual landscape of contemporary culture. His unwavering dedication to authenticity and innovation has solidified his reputation as a visionary force, inspiring generations of artists and creators to follow in his footsteps. Moreover, Greg's influence extends beyond individual projects, with his work collectively garnering close to a billion views across numerous platforms. His content has been a constant for nearly 2 decades cementing his status as one of the most influential directors in the industry.

Dwayne Meekins

Co-Creator, Executive Producer

Lieutenant Commander Dwayne Meekins retired from the U. S. Coast Guard after 20 years of honorable service. Over the course of his career, he gained experience in recruiting, vessel inspections, contingency planning, Waterways Mgmt., establishing a Cooperative Vessel Traffic Service, Coast Guard Modernization and Port and Facilities Activities. LCDR Meekins is a 4th generation Coast Guardsman and is proud to have been able to continue the legacy of his Coast Guard family.

Dwayne Meekins has also forged an impressive path in the gaming and esports industry. His passion and expertise in the gaming space can be seen along his journey from lifelong gamer to starting a mobile gaming theater with his wife in 2011 to teaching Esports & Gaming Technology at Johnson C. Smith University. Becoming the Esports Coordinator at North Carolina A&T State University, his beloved alma mater, in 2023 was a full circle moment and a testament to his dedication to the esports community and education. Dwayne's deep understanding of gaming allows him to make significant contributions to both academia and the industry.

Dwayne enjoys gaming, reading, listening to music, traveling and learning about history. He's particularly interested in U.S. History between Reconstruction and the signing of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Ivy Brown

Executive Producer, Producer

Ivy Brown has served as Chief Creative Officer for the International Black Film Festival (IBFF) since its inception in 2006. She oversees the production of all creative and media-based initiatives for the organization, which is inclusive of year-round events and the 4 ½ day film festival. Ivy has 25+ years of experience in Creative Direction & Design for domestic & international brands and has led design teams to relocate global HQs to Tennessee (Nissan North America, Volkswagen Group of America, Hankook Technology). She also collaborated on Film & TV projects with MTV Network's "Sifil & Ollie Show", UnDisputed Cinema's "Beyond the Lights", Fox Network's "Shots Fired", Paramount Picture's "Infinite", and OWN's "David Makes Man."
Ivy is native of Greensboro, NC. She holds a Bachelors of Arts degree from NC A&T State University in Broadcast Journalism. She is a fierce consumer of period, sci-fi/fantasy and social justice films.

Ingrid Brown

Executive Producer, Producer

Ingrid Brown has served as the Chief Operational Officer of the International Black Film Festival (IBFF) since its inception in 2006. She works closely with the Founder to establish festival programming, identify and maintain strategic national and international partnerships and create relationships and opportunities for fund development. Ms. Brown also oversees Talent & Entertainment Acquisition, industry relations, filmmaker engagement and studio and indie film procurement for the festival. She works as an independent consultant for content creators in developing tangible plans to gain access to the right resources within the industry that ultimately moves them closer to achieving their goals.

Ingrid is native of Greensboro, NC. She holds a dual degree from UNC-Greensboro in Psychology and Spanish and a dual Master’s of Science degree from NC A&T State University in Counseling and HR Management. She is a vocal advocate for humanitarian and social justice issues.
